I was born in Piatra Neamţ (another charming place that I want to share with you in another article), but every time I think of HOME, I also think of Bucovina. For me, home is a state of mind, I can feel at home where places and people intertwine so naturally that it gives me a state of serenity, security, peace.
I’m sure you’ve heard of Bucovina… maybe you got there… but I don’t know if you really tasted the calm, tranquility, beauty and simplicity of the places there. I confess that I had not done this for many years, despite the fact that I had passed through the area before. Until the spring of 2010, when I had the impression that I was witnessing a revelation.
I realized then, the first time I arrived in Orata, that we could make time stand still… even for a few days. Sounds unreal, doesn’t it? seeing how dizzying the days of the week go.
According to the saying “man sanctifies the place”, a hardworking man with faith in God, Traian Pomohaci, founded in Orata a wooden monastery around 1950 in memory of his wife Reveca. The convent of nuns Orata is dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin on August 15.
Next to the Monastery is the Guest House of the Pomohaci family, a place where I always lived a feeling of the deep peace of mind, especially when I heard the bell ringing in the evening. When you get here you feel like a guest and after a few days spent in the quiet of these places, you leave with the desire to return as soon as possible. The food is wonderful and is homemade, and the popular outfits are proudly worn by both Dana and her mother, mother Viorica.
If you ever feel the need to escape the hustle and bustle of the places you are in, and if you want to get to the special land of Bucovina, stop by Orata to rediscover the sweet taste of the time that stands in place. Go there if you want to rest and disconnect a little from all modern technology. It is a perfect setting to reconnect with nature, traditions, simple and meaningful life. It is a perfect setting to find yourself.
