Have you ever had one of those days that looks like a “template day?” Did you wake up, go to the office as usual and end the day with nothing special to mention?
These days are not necessarily the worst. But even when we take it easy, we can still animate life and change the routine of our daily lives through the practice of mindfulness.
We recommend 7 mindfulness rituals that will change your life, transform your day, and bring you happiness through awareness more careful of favorite activities, from conscious morning rituals to inspiring life ideas.
- Start your morning with Gratitude
Take a few moments to reflect on the morning when you wake up and write down in your diary your thanks for the chance to enjoy a new day. Even research supports the idea of the journal of gratitude. A study in NeuroImage on the effects of gratitude on the brain showed that when you practice gratitude constantly, you train your brain to feel gratitude more easily, which is found in your interactions with others.
- Set a Daily Intention
Even if you are accustomed to setting an intention before practicing yoga, why not set an intention at the beginning of each day? Whatever the intention, let it be your guiding light throughout the day and adjust your intention based on what you need that day.
3. Make your Bed Mindfully
As Admiral William H. McCraven said in his famous commencement speech, “If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another. And by the end of the day that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed.”
4. Explore Slow Food and Mindful Eating
Have you heard of fast food, but have you ever tried “slow food?” This style of eating slowly happens more on vacation or while dining at the restaurant, but what about bringing the same pleasure into everyday life. Enjoy each bite, slow down the rhythm during the meals and focus on the flavor.
5. Practice active Listening
There is nothing more frustrating than talking to someone and noticing that they are not actually listening to you. Give others the attention you want to receive. Try to have a conversation in which you are fully present without multitasking. This can help you become more involved in what the other person is saying, and the conversation will flow more freely.
6. Be Creative
Even if you don’t consider yourself a creative person, we all express our creativity in different ways. By practicing mindfulness throughout the day, you could open up to new ideas to inspire your creativity. Try writing, drawing, cooking, playing music, etc. Try something new and get lost in the flow state.
7. End your day with Meditation
Even just five minutes of meditation can help you relax and reflect on the day that is about to end. It is not necessary to spend too much time in meditation, but just to breathe consciously and see how your day went and how your next day will be.
