Certainly, after such a long time in which we had travel restrictions, many of us can’t wait to book the first vacation for this year or the first City break.
And according to rumors, it seems that starting with this spring, we will have all the chances to take the airplane or car and let’s go to a destination that reminds us of how good it is to be able to travel again.
Therefore, if you still don’t know what plans to make for cross-border outings, I suggest you to do a trip in the style of La Dolce Vita, to Rome in Italy.
The flight does not take more than two hours, and once you land at the airport, where hundreds of tourists are coming and going, you will be greeted by noisy locals, takeaway cafes where you can quickly serve espresso and restaurants always full. The tourist areas are always full of tourists, lovers, and locals.
A must of the sights to visit when you are in Rome should include:
- Colosseum – the largest amphitheater built during the Romanian Empire, where gladiator fights were held, makes you go back in time, being the ideal place to see and feel the history.

- The Roman Forum – very close to the Colosseum, is one of the most beautiful and interesting tourist attractions in the city, rich in many temples, including Via Sacra-a place where Julius Caesar walked 20 centuries ago.
- Trevi Fountain – dating back to 19 BC. represents the most beautiful and the largest fountain in Rome. Tradition says that if you throw a coin in the fountain, you will return to Rome, if you throw two coins, you will fall in love with an Italian, and if you throw three coins, you will marry that person. So be careful what you wish to do when you throw away the coin because it is a real tradition to throw the coin in the Trevi Fountain.

- St. Peter’s Basilica – is one of the largest churches in the world and a place where the Pope holds numerous religious events throughout the year. Also, you must visit the inside of the Basilica, because here you will be able to see impressive pieces of art, such as the statue of St. Peter sitting on the throne, and the Pieta – a sculpture by Michelangelo.
- The Sixtine Chapel – is located at the Vatican, representing one of the greatest riches of the Vatican, also of the whole world. It is known for its frescoes which completely cover the walls and ceiling, to which famous artists such as Botticelli or Michelangelo have contributed. The most famous images inside the chapel are the two paintings of Michelangelo, namely: The Creation of Adam and the Last Judgment.
Outdoor walks are part of the daily life of the locals, so take advantage of a walk in one of the famous Italian markets such as Piazza di Spagna, Piazza Navona, or famous parks, such as Villa Borghese or Gianicolo Hill. But in addition to all the tourist attractions, if you are arriving in Rome, you should try more of the local drinks, and especially the Italian cuisine known for its simple but extremely delicious dishes.
Among the local dishes, we recommend Pizza al taglio with various toppings and pasta rigatoni carbonara or bucatini amatriciana. For vegetarians, our choice would be cacio e pepe.
And you can’t leave Rome without tasting the Italian dessert, such as gelato, profiterol or canno.
The nightlife of the locals is very active, so if you want to tase a little of Rome life, you should not miss an outing to Italian restaurants and bars, where you can have an elegant dinner, try a limoncello, a glass of prosecco or an aperitif, and of course, you should try to follow the Italian ritual of drinking coffee straight from the famous short espresso bar.
So once you arrive in Rome, all you have to do is discover its streets full of energy, with cafes and pizzerias, visit tourist attractions and then relax in a park or a market, enjoying the dolce vita.
